Spam 'hotline' for German users
German email users can now report spam directly to the Federation of German Consumer Organisations (vzbv)
German email users can now report spam directly to the Federation of German Consumer Organisations (vzbv), a non-governmental umbrella agency for 38 German consumer associations. Unsolicited emails can be forwarded directly to the organisation, where they will be reviewed in an attempt to determine their origin and, where appropriate, legal action will be initiated against the senders/their clients. The agency hopes that its move to prosecute spammers will have a deterrent effect on other would-be spammers. The hotline is intended only for consumer use – corporate users can report spam to Germany’s unfair competition watchdog.
