New security portal unveiled by publishers of Information Security Bulletin magazine.
Last month a new security portal was unveiled by the publishers of Information Security Bulletin magazine. Alongside the generic security news stories, the odd back issue of the magazine and marketing blurb, is an intriguing section of the website known as 'Who's Who in Information Security?' - effectively an online database of résumés.
A search of the database on the word 'virus' produced the biographies of nine eminent figures of the AV world - in alphabetical order, Niels Bjergstrom (Editor of Information Security Bulletin and brains behind the website), Vesselin Bontchev, Fred Cohen, Howard Fuhs, VB's own Jakub Kaminski, Eugene Kaspersky, Andreas Lessing, Igor Muttik and Rob Rosenberger. Anyone upset by their omission from the database is reminded that the database is still under construction, and can take comfort in the thought that future developments to the site promise the facility to submit your own biography for inclusion in the Who's Who database, as well as the addition of mugshots of each entrant. pitfalls for our comparative participants - the
Vista operating system, which still seems shiny
and new as well as a little scary (to both developers and users), as well
as the x64 architecture, whose ostensible compatibility with standard
32-bit software belies oddities and intricacies that developers ignore at
their peril. The announcement of the test brought a few surprises, as
several regulars opted to skip this one, but the majority of veteran
competitors took part as usual, along with several newer faces, many of
whom look set to join the ranks of our regulars.
