URL filtering

Blocking unwanted sites by their web address

URL filtering is the act of blocking access to unwanted websites simply by blocking the URLs, or web addresses, of the sites.

Web filters may include a list of known-bad sites, or may be connected to a real-time list, which enables them simply to deny access to any site deemed worthy of blocking. It is a fairly basic form of content control.
