Multipartite virus

Virus that infects boot records, boot sectors and files

Multipartite viruses are capable of infecting the master boot records of hard drives, the boot sectors of floppy disks and normal files.

They were fairly common in the days of DOS-based operating systems, but declined in numbers in line with the general decline of boot sector viruses.
