Mule

Someone acting as a money-launderer for cybercriminals

A mule in cybercrime is a person who helps a cybercriminal transfer illegally acquired funds from one location to another.

As most cybercrime is carried out across international borders, it is often difficult to smuggle funds from the victim's country to that of the criminal. Mules are thus used to take deposits of funds defrauded from accounts via phishing, and to pass that money on to the phishers. Mule recruitment spam has become commonplace, with emails offering ample rewards for simple duties and easy working hours, aiming to dupe innocent victims into participating in cybercrime.
