Malware

Any type of malicious software

Malware is an umbrella term for any kind of malicious software, including viruses, worms, trojans, spyware, and often also adware and greyware.

The term is created from merging the words 'malicious' and 'software', and is preferred by some to the word 'virus', which is often used somewhat inaccurately to cover the same list of threats.
