Ham

Genuine, wanted email, not spam

Ham is a term used to contrast with spam, signifying the genuine email that people want to receive and read.

Ham that is mislabelled as spam (false positives) can usually be retrieved from the spam filter if the recipient knows to look for it, but this often takes more time and effort per message than dealing with a spam that has not been filtered (false negative), so it is usually considered more important for spam filters to avoid false positives than false negatives.
