Freeze

Locking up of a program or system after an error

A freeze is when a program, or a whole computer system, locks up and ceases to respond to any input, as a result of an error or crash.

Applications that have frozen can sometimes be shut down using the task manager or other techniques, but frozen systems generally require a full reboot to recover.
