Crash

Unexpected termination of a program or system

A crash is when a running program encounters a serious error and cannot continue running, bringing about a sudden stop in its activities.

Crashing can also refer to entire operating systems ceasing to function (often accompanied by a blue screen), and may also be associated with a freeze.
