Browser Helper Object

Browser plugin that can change browser behaviour

A Browser Helper Object is a program or plugin which loads whenever the Internet Explorer browser does, modifying its behaviour in some way.

While some BHOs, such as toolbars, can be useful, malware often inserts BHOs to perform malicious tasks, such as gathering data on web browsing or reaping sensitive login information for banking and other sites.
