Sasser author jobseeking

Gis' a job! Name: Sven Jaschan. Age: 18. Previous work experience: creating and distributing Internet worm(s).

The lawyer representing Sven Jaschan, self-confessed author of the Sasser worm, claims that his client is 'desperately' seeking a trainee position in the computer industry.

Jaschan told Stern magazine that he is worried about having to pay damages to those affected by the Internet worm Sasser. His lawyer confirmed that between 30 and 40 claims had already been made against Jaschan and said that the youngster is desperately seeking work (in the computer industry) so that he can start earning in order to pay back the damages.

Meanwhile, the person who shopped Sven Jaschan - in the hopes of being on the receiving end of the first payout of Microsoft's $5 million 'anti-virus reward program' - is now himself under investigation by German authorities who suspect that he may also have been involved with distributing the virus.

Microsoft's cheque book will remain closed for the time being.

Prospective employers in the computer industry, with any suitable vacancies for a virus writer, will find Jaschan in his home village of Waffensen, northern Germany, where he remains on bail awaiting trial.
