Solidcore, a privately owned firm founded in 2003 and based in Cupertino, California, provides a range of dynamic whitelisting technologies, with special emphasis on the embedded market, one of the prime areas for whitelisting currently. The technology will be merged into McAfee's modular line of security offerings alongside those of numerous other specialist firms snapped up of late.

The announcement of the deal is at McAfee here, with a much more detailed statement from Solidcore here. Further reports are at CNET here, eWeek here and The Register here.
