AVG acquires Sana Security
Behavioural experts added to growing portfolio.
AVG has announced the acquisition of behaviour-blocking firm Sana Security, adding another level to its
fast-expanding security solution empire.
California-based Sana's technologies focus on monitoring the behaviour of software for anomalous or dangerous
activity, providing a means of blocking zero-day malicious attacks beyond signature and heuristic scanning. The purchase
should fit neatly into AVG's internet security suite, recently bolstered by the acquisition and merging of the
LinkScanner web-filtering technology from Exploit Prevention Labs into the AVG product range.
No details on the financial transactions involved in the deal have yet emerged, but Czech-based AVG has
highlighted the foothold the purchase gives it into the Silicon Valley high-tech region, confirming that existing
Sana staff and offices will be maintained under the new ownership.
