Four critical updates in Patch Tuesday release
Monthly security update small but vital.
Microsoft has released its monthly 'Patch Tuesday' batch of security updates, with only four items on the list but all of them marked 'critical'.
The four updates affect Microsoft Office, Windows Media Player, Media Encoder, and GDI+, a core component of Windows. All the vulnerabilities could be exploited to execute arbitrary code from a remote source, either by visiting a malicious web page or running a specially crafted file, and various versions of the Windows platform and pieces of Microsoft software are affected.
Users are as usual advised to ensure the updates are in place as soon as possible to ensure best security. More details on the release are in the security advisory, here.
