Police investigating online theft discovered a vast cache of data stored on the server, and the Met emailed the UK-based victims to warn them of the risk to their security and privacy. It is thought that many thousands more user details were retrieved from global sources, but so far only UK victims have been contacted.

F-Secure's Mikko Hypponen brought up the story during his keynote speech at this year's Virus Bulletin conference in Montr߱al.
