Trend and Microsoft deny vulnerability

PowerPoint zero-day hype just hype after all.

After an announcement from Trend Micro sparked numerous reports of a zero-day PowerPoint exploit, taking advantage of an as-yet-unreleased vulnerability in the Microsoft product, the Redmond giant has cried foul and denied any new bug exists.

The initial announcement stated the threat used an unknown vulnerability, wording which many took to mean the vulnerability was something new and unpatched. However, a clarification from Trend's David Perry shows they merely meant it was unidentified. Microsoft's analysis so far shows no new zero-day exploit, and Trend representatives have since stated they can't get the 'trojan' to work at all.
