World's second largest spam-producing country signs up to anti-spam plan

After months of discussions the Chinese government has signed up to the London Action Plan on Spam

China has become the latest country whose government has signed up to the London Action Plan on International Spam Enforcement Collaboration - an international action plan designed to encourage communication and cooperation between countries in tackling spam and spam-related problems.

Last October a total of 15 countries signed up to the London Action Plan and, following months of negotiation, the Chinese government has also agreed to sign up to the plan.

UK ecommerce minister Alun Michael was pleased with the result, saying: 'We have long been keen to engage with China on the issue of spam, in particular because China is probably the second biggest source of spam in the world ... As China reaches the 100 million Internet users mark, we welcome this opportunity to work with China to make the Internet safer for users.'
