McAfee buys wireless security firm
McAfee buys into security for wireless devices
AV firm McAfee Inc. has announced that it is to acquire Wireless Security Corp., a privately held wireless security software manufacturer, for an undisclosed sum.
McAfee already had a partnership with the California-based Wireless Security Corp. and has now acquired all of its the outstanding stock, technologies and assets. All the Wireless Security software developers are expected to join McAfee.
'The world we live in has become increasingly wireless, yet most users do not have the proper security enabled and additional protection installed to secure their wireless networks,' said McAfee Chairman George Samenuk. 'This acquisition builds on our existing security technology and enables us to further protect the growing wireless environment.'
Products from the acquisition are expected to be released later this year and will include a downloadable offering for consumers and a version for small businesses.
