Vulnerability assessment for country's critical infrastructure systems
The Australian government is to spend more than 8 million dollars on a project that will identify and fix security vulnerabilities in the country's critical computer systems.
The Computer Network Vulnerability Assessment (CNVA) Program, announced by Attorney General Philip Ruddock at the end of last week, will fund experts to assist the operators of critical infrastructure systems to identify weaknesses in existing computer networks and test systems to see how they can be compromised.
The government has issued an immediate call for expressions of interest (EOI) from computer experts with the relevant skills and qualifications needed to conduct the security assessments. The call for EOIs will close on 14 December and it is hoped that the progam will begin early the new year.
