The waxing and waning of spammers' trickery

John Graham-Cumming Sophos Anti-Spam Task Force

Since January 2003 Sophos has been publically archiving and explaining tricks that spammers use to attempt to evade spam filters. In addition, Sophos has an extensive network of spam honeypots used to gather samples of spam world-wide. This talk will look at those tricks and how the have waxed and waned over the last two years. By examining data from the honeypots the rise and fall of tricks can be seen and predictions made about the future nature of spam.
