Heuristics: retrospective and future

The role of heuristics is discussed. Pros and cons arguments are
presented in view of the latest research and scanning results.
Retrospective studies of a variety of heuristics algorithms
implemented in NOD32 anti-virus system and their impact on the
detection capabilities are presented. Efficiency of heuristics methods
dealing with a number of file formats and platforms is compared and a
posteriori case studies are performed.
New approaches in heuristics scanning are presented in light of the
current trends in the evolution of the computer infiltrations.
